Digital assets expert Kurt Zeimers welcomes EU pilot regime

Germany and the EU are working on establishing the legal framework for the issuance and trading of electronic and digital securities.

In the cover story of the trade journal Portfolio Institutionell, Kurt Zeimers, expert for digital assets at BNP Paribas, comments on the planned pilot regime of the European Union, which is to come into force in March 2023.

“We think it’s good that the pilot regime sets the framework for the issuance, trading and settlement of DLT- and blockchain-based securities.” However, it is not a sure-fire success. “Market participants who invest today cannot be 100 percent sure that the security will continue after the pilot phase like a share on a DLT or blockchain.”
